Delicious comedy about a successful author who return to his hometown Salas in Argentina, which has been the inspiration for all of his books. Little by little it becomes clear that not everyone in town is that thrilled by the author’s return. Winner of the Volpi Cup for best actor during the Venice Film Festival.

Daniel Mantovani is a successful writer in Barcelona who has been awarded prizes from all over the world - including the Nobel Prize for literature - but has started to reject them one by one, feeling uninspired and fed up with a shallow industry. When an invitation from his hometown in Argentina arrives, wishing to grant him the 'Distinguished Citizen Award', he reluctantly agrees to attend. Although he hasn't been back for 40 years, Salas has served as the setting for all Daniel's stories. His journey becomes a comic odyssey about he burden of success, lost ideals, and whether artists truly give back to the communities they've creatively mined for decades.
