From age 12 and up Fear
Garth Davis, 2016 118 minutes Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, Sunny Pawar, David Wenham Australia English, Bengali, Hindi 12 January 2017 Dutch

A five-year-old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometres from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia. 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family.

Precocious Saroo Khan is always up for an adventure. One night Saroo and his older brother Guddu get separated on a train platform in their native Madhya Pradesh, and Saroo winds up nearly a thousand miles away in Calcutta.

Homeless in a strange city where he doesn't speak the language, Saroo gets by on his street smarts until he is taken in by a government orphanage. When an Australian couple adopts him, he is taken to live with them in Tasmania. It's not until Saroo leaves that island as a young Australian man that he begins to wonder what became of his first home and family. Ingeniously using satellite images from Google Earth, he finds a lead to follow up on. (source: www.tiff.net, adapted)
