Sofia Coppola (LOST IN TRANSLATION, THE VIRGIN SUICIDES) was crowned best director at Cannes this year for this atmospheric thriller situated in a Southern girls’ boarding school during the Civil War.

THE BEGUILED weaves a story fraught with sexual tension, dangerous rivalries and broken taboos. The sheltered young women of a boarding school take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.

THE BEGUILED is a reinterpretation of the 1971 film by Don Siegel, with Clint Eastwood. Coppola offers her own, female perspective on the story by diverting the point of view away from soldier McBurney to the women he's attempting to manipulate.
